Melissa Martinez-Sones joined Housing Justice Center as Interim President through Mighty Consulting, where she is a co-owner and consultant. At Mighty, her work focuses on supporting nonprofits, partnerships, and nonprofit leaders as they navigate organizational change with clarity and confidence.

With two decades of experience in Minnesota’s nonprofit sector, Melissa brings deep expertise in leadership, facilitation, and project management. She has led and supported complex initiatives involving a wide range of stakeholders.

Melissa is known for quickly building trust with people at every level of an organization and channeling their ideas and energy into realistic, practical solutions. Her approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and values-driven—and she believes the work should be meaningful and even enjoyable, even when it’s hard.

Melissa holds a B.A. in Urban Studies and Sociology from Hamline University and a Master of Public Affairs from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, where she received the Thomas H. Swain Fellowship in Public Leadership.
