Emily Curran joined HJC as a litigation attorney in June 2025. Emily is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School (J.D. 2022), where she began her civil rights practice through internships with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Office of the Minnesota Attorney General. Emily developed expertise in fair housing law during her two years as a Civil Rights Litigation Fellow for DC-based law firm Relman Colfax, and later while working as an investigator for the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) in the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Emily has helped achieve significant legal victories for clients, including substantial monetary compensation for victims of injustice, and injunctive relief such as increased accessibility in Fair Housing Act-covered homes, policy changes to exclusionary tenant screening practices, and rent stabilization enforcement. Emily strives to be a thoughtful, thorough, and creative advocate for housing justice. In her free time, Emily is a musician and performer, serving as principal percussionist for the Mississippi Valley Orchestra. She also loves to rock climb, walk around the many Twin Cities lakes, and check out armloads of books from her local library.
